Hey, it's me, Christi!

Hi and welcome to "Hanging on by the Grace of God"! I'm Christi (and that's my trusty side kick of over 30 years, Lee Cave). Many of you probably already know me, but if you don't know, now you do! Maybe you've known me for a long while, and are seeing this blog and thinking, "She finally did it! She's taking the steps she needs to reach a long desired dream!" Or maybe you're part of my church family, follow me on my social media, and other than knowing I have a loud, laughter filled family, a dog who is the reason we can't have nice things, and a deaf cat that many conspire is actually faking it, you actually don't know me well at all! I'm here to welcome you all, whether we've been friends and family for years, just became the best of friends, or haven't spoken at all. Whatever our relationship, or lack thereof, is, I hope you enjoy this little piece of my life that I'm going to be sharing with you.

Here are some fun facts about me before we get to the nitty gritty of life:

  • I'm a wife and mother and I love Jesus
  • I have two loud and amazing biological children but an endless amount of super cool bonus kids
  • I love to laugh and get much joy from others laughing
  • I have a tumor, and we've named her Felicia 2.0
  • Original tumor Felicia died once, but decided to grace us with her presence once more. But that's part of the nitty gritty that we'll get into later.
God has blessed me with a wonderful and joyous life. It is a life filled with the most beautiful of highs and some pretty serious lows, but the Lord never told us our lives would be easy. It would be really easy to get caught up in a spiral of despair because of the many happenings occurring around us in the world today.

That's why I love to find the comedy in life and put a hilarious spin on all of life's stories. For instance, when a hurricane comes barreling through our state and causes wreckage and damage beyond belief, it would be easy to make a little camp in Despair Land and stay there and stay there for a bit, but then we wouldn't be able to laugh about my youngest son getting his head stuck in an antique iron bed frame. Stick around and you'll soon hear the full story on how we almost called the fire department in order to save tearing his ears off but figured those guys were a little busy. Spoiler alert, he still has ears. You also might hear about the time I talked my way into the bowels of The White House without my ID. And my friend is forever grateful but my oldest son is still upset that a Secret Service man took one of his gameboy cartridges. You must check back because I found some great comedy in these situations and much more.

No matter the circumstances, there is always a way to find the silver lining, the encouragement, or the twist that will cause those around you to laugh right along with you even in the middle of the storm or it may take a few years for them to laugh. I can never understand that though.

I guess that's why I'm here. To be an encourager to the wives, moms, and just the average human who might need some extra love. To be a comedic relief when laughter seems near impossible. To hopefully be a light in an otherwise dimming world. And maybe we'll find and share some Jesus along the way!

I hope you decide to join me on this journey, and if you do, you better buckle up! It's going to be a crazy ride! Let me know you were here! And thanks for stopping by for a visit!
